43rd Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries was held earlier today. Across fields such as Jio Platforms, 5 G and digital infrastructure, several major announcements were made on Jio.
Jio and Google’s collaboration in Jio Platforms was one of the highlights of the AGM, as was a new smartphone. A new hardware launch and a new streaming service were also launched. We look at today’s top five big Reliance’s AGM announcements.
Google is the most recent Jio app investment venture. Jio confirmed that Google would invest a total of 33,737 crores for a 7.7% stake in Jio Platforms. It takes Jio Platforms to INR 1,52,057 the combined contribution of financial and strategic investors.
Jio-Google Mobile Phones
A new, affordable smartphone based on a modified Android operating system will also be produced by the Jio-Google partnership. Indian users can customize the input level smartphone. Google already provides Indian consumers with many personalized services and apps. With its Jio Mobile, Jio also dominates the ‘smart’ mobile market. No news yet on a Jio-Google phone launch date.
Jio Glass, a smart glass powered by mixed reality, was the only hardware launch at AGM. Jio Glass is pretty small, with a weight of only 75 grams and a mobile cable that links to the Internet. 25 applications and all audio formats are supported. The Jio Glass can be used for interactive meetings, for presentations, or for 3D and 2D avatars.
Jio has created his 5G solution from scratch, according to Mukesh Ambani. With its world-class 5 G network, the organization aims at delivering 100% domestic technology and solutions. Jio is currently planning for 5 G and will begin trials once the spectrum is available.
The new video streaming service of the organization is Jio TV. The site offers contents from over 12 Netflix , Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar and Voot OTT channels. Jio TV + also has numerous movies, films, live television, children’s content and music categories. It has voice search support for all 12 applications and a single sign-in.
