Ahmedabad: The political turmoil in Nepal has reached its peak and now something decisive may happen soon. On behalf of PM KP Sharma Oli, Nepal Communist Party co-chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda met Bidya Devi Bhandari in a soft residence after accusing him of plotting to remove the president through impeachment. Prachanda then arrived at the prime Minister’s official residence. The meeting lasted for about half an hour between the two. The two will meet once again tomorrow. But the way the two have been adamant on their stand is to be determined that reconciliation is not possible.
The Coronavirus epidemic has created an atmosphere of political instability in Nepal. At the behest of China, Oli could not suppress the rising voices against him by including the Indian regions in the new map of the country. There is not only public outrage against KP over the shortcomings in the arrangements against misrule, corruption, COVID-19 but also the party’s confidence. Senior party leaders have asked him to quit the post of party president and Prime Minister.
Amid growing acrimony in the party, the pressure to quit KP Sharma Oli is continuously increasing. PM Oli has asked the ministers to choose one side, tell them whether they are with them or with the opposing camp. They have been likely to take any major steps in the present situation. Earlier on Thursday, the main opposition Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba met KP Sharma Oli. There is now a dispute in the Congress. Party leaders have sought a response from the speaker.
