Russia is first to complete the clinical trials of COVID-19 Vaccine
That is why pharmaceutical firms and scientists work hard to come up with a vaccine as soon as possible. This pandemic takes a very fast turn. At various levels of growth worldwide, like India, there are currently more than 100 vaccines.
The late-stage Phase III trials are performed with Sinovac Biotech, Chinese National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) and Covid-19 experiments with AstraZeneca. Many of the major players in the market today are Moderna, AstraZeneca, BioNTech, Novavax, Sinovac, CanSino Biologics, and Inovio Pharmaceuticals.
Vadim Tarasov, director of the Translational Medicine and Biotechnology Center, told Sputnik that the clinical trials of the world’s first coronavirus vaccine were successfully completed with volunteers at Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. They also said that on Wednesday and July 20, the first group of volunteers would be released.
On 18 June, the University initiated clinical vaccine trials developed by the Russian Institute for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Gamalei.
“Tests on volunteers of the first vaccine against coronavirus have been successfully finished at the Sechenov university,” said Tarasov.
In negotiations with Russia, Brazil, Chile and Saudi Arabia, Chinese vaccine developer CanSino Biologics is launching a Phase III study on its Covid-19 experimental vaccine, its co-founder said.
Qiu Dongxu, CEO and co-founder of CanSino told a conference on anti-viral drug production in Suzhou: “We are in touch with Russia, Brazil, Chile and Saudi Arabia for the Phase III trial.
He stated that the phase III trial “may soon begin,” and that the company is planning to recruit 40,000 test participants.
On Friday, the Standing Committee on Science and Technology said that India must wait for its Covid-19 vaccination vaccine to at least be obtained in the first quarter of 2021. Officials warned that this is a period for India to conduct its vaccine at the earliest possible moment.
